BEETS
Some years ago, during my vegetarian/fat-free living days, I threw raw beets into the Cuisinart and made a delicious slaw. I’d never had it before, and wasn’t even sure you could eat raw beets, but apparently I was ahead of that game. Yum! So refreshing and so good for you (and better than the pickled, canned varieties for sure).
CINNAMON
I used to try to be the first in the office so I could make the coffee, and add a shake or two of cinnamon before brewing. I’m not a big fan of flavored coffee (I’m a purist) but that dash of cinnamony goodness is a rich delicious treat (and it makes even lousy coffee taste drinkable).
PUMPKIN SEEDS
Ask anyone who knew me way back when, I’m a seed-eater! Sunflower is my first love, of course; but a good pumpkin seed is yummy — shell and all! Despite countless failed attempts to roast them myself I know they’re good for me and try to buy a small bag every couple of weeks.
